THE BEVERLY PEPPER PROJECTS FOUNDATION PRESENTS THE EXHIBITION “HOLDING OUR CENTRE”

Thanks to the renewed collaboration with the Municipality of Todi, the Beverly Pepper Projects Foundation has invited British painter Ian Davenport (Sidcup, UK, 1966) to Todi—one of the most prominent British artists and a former member of the Young British Artists group. The solo exhibition Holding Our Centre, curated by Marco Tonelli and hosted at the Sala delle Pietre (Palazzi Comunali, Piazza del Popolo – Todi), will be on view from August 31 to October 5, 2025. Davenport, who also designed the official poster for the 39th edition of the Todi Festival, is exhibiting in Italy in a public space for the second time, following his previous show at the Chiostro del Bramante in Rome.

The exhibition features some of his renowned painting-installations, which exist in a space between two-dimensional painting and sculpture (Painting with floors), alongside works on paper (Splats) characterized by dripping, splattered color.
In addition, one of his video installation—an adaptation of a previous work created for the Flannels Store in London—will be displayed at Palazzo del Capitano in Piazza del Popolo, the main stage of the Festival, during the Todi Festival days.

Beyond being a tribute to the artist, the exhibition is also a homage to the past, establishing a dialogue between Davenport’s work and both ancient art and the masterpieces of the Italian Renaissance.
