THE BEVERLY PEPPER PROJECTS FOUNDATION PRESENTS THE EXHIBITION
“HOLDING OUR CENTRE” BY IAN DAVENPORT
Todi: August 31 – October 5, 2025
Thanks to the renewed collaboration with the Municipality of Todi, the Beverly Pepper Projects Foundation has invited British painter Ian Davenport (Sidcup, UK, 1966) — one of the most prominent figures in British contemporary art and a member of the Young British Artists group — to exhibit in Todi. Davenport, who also designed the official poster for the 39th edition of Todi Festival, will be the focus of a solo exhibition titled Holding Our Centre, curated by Marco Tonelli, taking place in the Sala delle Pietre (Palazzi Comunali, Piazza del Popolo – Todi) from August 31 to October 5, 2025.
This exhibition marks the second time the artist is showing his work in a public space in Italy, following his presentation at the Chiostro del Bramante in Rome. It will feature some of his iconic painting-installations that blur the line between two-dimensional painting and sculpture (Painting with Floors), alongside works on paper from the Splats series, characterized by vibrant, dripping color splashes.
A specially adapted video installation, originally created for the Flannels Store in London, will also be shown during the days of Todi Festival at Palazzo del Capitano, located in Piazza del Popolo, the festival’s main stage.
More than just a tribute to the artist, the exhibition aims to honor the past through a dialogue between Davenport’s work and both ancient art and the masterpieces of the Italian Renaissance.
