Starting on October 16, 2025, in Bologna, at the two venues of CUBO – the corporate museum of the Unipol Group – the exhibition Beverly Pepper, Space Outside is open to the public. Curated by Ilaria Bignotti and Marco Tonelli, and made possible thanks to the close collaboration with the Beverly Pepper Projects Foundation, this event represents a valuable opportunity to delve into the pioneering work of one of the most important figures in contemporary sculpture.

Beginning with two works from the Unipol Collection – Prisms (1967–1968) and Virgo Rectangle Twist (1967) – the exhibition explores the gradual evolution of Pepper’s poetics, which moved beyond sculpture into the Space Outside, becoming environment, a place for social and communal encounter, in line with her personal concept of Connective Art.

Through 36 works – including sculptures, maquettes, drawings, watercolors, and sketchbooks – in addition to an extensive documentary section featuring photographs and videos, the exhibition highlights the core principles of Pepper’s career: from Connective Art to Amphisculpture as a place of Querencia and refuge, up to her innovative idea of the Monument.

A study day dedicated to this latter theme will be held on November 27, 2025, at CUBO, featuring contributions from Andrea Pinotti (Philosopher, University of Milan), Loris Cecchini (Artist), Marco Tonelli (Scientific Curator, Beverly Pepper Projects Foundation), and Arianna Bettarelli (Curator and Archive Manager, Beverly Pepper Projects Foundation), with moderation by Ilaria Bignotti (Curator).
